How to translate audio to English (or any of 26 languages)

Three steps. No account.

01

Pick the language you want.

Set Translate to, then drop in an mp3, m4a, wav, ogg or video file, or click Start and record. Leave the spoken language on auto-detect.

02

We transcribe, then translate.

First the words in the language they were spoken, with timestamps and speakers, then every line translated. An hour of audio usually takes a few minutes.

03

Read both, take either.

Switch between the translation and the original. Copy it, or download it as text, Markdown or translated subtitles (.srt, .vtt).

Audio translator: questions

The fine print, plainly.

Is this audio translator free?+

Yes. Without an account you can translate recordings of up to 15 minutes, 1 hour of audio a day. Sign in free with Apple or Google for up to 2 hours per file and 3 hours a day. No credit card, no watermark.

How do I translate Spanish audio to English?+

Set Translate to English, drop in the Spanish recording, and wait a minute or two. You get the English text line by line with timestamps, and the Spanish original one click away. The same works for Hindi, French, Portuguese or any of the 26 languages.

Can I translate English audio into another language?+

Yes. Pick the language under Translate to before you start, or use Translate on any finished transcript to switch to another one.

Can I translate a WhatsApp voice message?+

Yes. Share the voice message out of WhatsApp (long-press it, choose Forward, then the share sheet and save it as a file), pick the language under Translate to and drop the file here. WhatsApp voice notes are ogg files, which the tool reads directly. Telegram and Signal voice messages work the same way.

How accurate is the translation?+

It is a machine translation of the transcript: good for understanding what was said, following an interview or reading a class in your language. For a contract or anything you publish, have a person check it. Clear audio makes both steps better.

Can I get translated subtitles?+

Yes. Download the translation as .srt or .vtt: the timings come from the original speech, so the subtitles line up with the video.

Is this a live voice translator?+

No. It works on a recording: a file you have, or one you make here in the browser. For a conversation happening right now, record it, then translate it when you stop.

Which languages are supported?+

26, in any combination: English, Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Italian, Dutch, Hindi, Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Russian, Ukrainian, Polish, Turkish, Indonesian, Swedish, Danish, Norwegian, Finnish, Czech, Slovak, Hungarian, Romanian, Greek and more.

Is my recording stored?+

No. The audio is transcribed and deleted, and the text is translated and sent back to your browser. Finished transcripts stay on this device for 24 hours, or in your Recordd library if you sign in and save them. Nothing is used to train AI.
